MTRCB Launches its 2015 TV and Film Infomercial

Image
2 015 marks the 30 th year of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).   To kick off the celebration of its anniversary, MTRCB formally launched its new infomercial on 23 February 2015 at 2:00 p.m., MTRCB Building.   Directed by renowned film and television director Jose Javier “Joey” Reyes, Jr., DGPI and conceptualized by Mr. Erlito “Lilit” Reyes, the infomercial features actors-spouses Ryan and Judy Ann Agoncillo in a typical morning situation at home.   In such scene, their depicted child picks up a word from a TV feature and asks the elders in the house what it means.   The infomercial aims to challenge parents and responsible adults to be aware of the media content our children are exposed to, and to be mindful of the MTRCB’s classification ratings.    Parents are also reminded that the primary duty in guiding their children as to the media the latter see still rests in them.   Details of the infomerci...

Siam Krua Thai Review

Image
We dined at Siam Krua Thai, Lim Ketkai Drive, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City. We were warmly welcomed and entertained as we entered the restaurant. The crew greeted us in Thai I suppose which I didn't really understand, and didn't reply.  Siam Krua Thai experience? This was not my first time to dine in the restaurant, but it's my first time to have its review. First, what did we order?  To additionally (because we already had our Starbucks session) clench our thirst, we had the four seasons juice. Alright they call it "Tropical Slush"! :-) Tropical slush  Then the Tom Yum (Yam)? was served by the waiter. He served it on our soup bowls. Maybe he reckoned we're going to fight over the soup? Haha so to be fair, he's going to divide it for us! LOL! Well, that's great service though. Not that we can't do it, but it's how they do it here. Maybe it's just my taste, but it didn't impress me, it's somehow short of being...

INPUT into OUTPUT, What Are You Feeding Your Mind?

Image
When someone asks the question, "Want a television job?" visions of glamor, recognition, fame, and fortune probably pop into your mind. What I'm going to share today will meet most of those criteria, but perhaps not in the way you'd expect. The television job I have in mind for you as a parent or friend of a child is one of involvement. If parents get involved with what their kids see on T.V., then some T.V. can be good. Unfortunately, much of what you - or a kid - can see on the tube is anything but good. As an example think of this: an average of every seven and one-half minutes of prime-time viewing, drinking alcohol is presented as a fact of life, in a generally favorable light. This does not include the beer and wine commercials, the most persuasive advertisements on T.V. The potential benefit of television - like a lot of things - hinges on parental involvement. So the job I have for you is not in front of the camera, but in a management position in fr...

She Had All The Reason To Agree That She's a Loser, But She Didn't.What She Did Is Admirable!

Image
Some people win in spite of the odds - and that select group can include you. Angie Pikshus had every reason to decide life had dealt her an unfair hand. Her mother died when she was still a baby. She never really knew her father or the peaceful security of a stable home; instead she was moved from foster home to foster home. When she was in the eighth grade, she was moved to Arkansas to live with some relatives. Angie was an orphan, was twenty pounds overweight (and therefore was growing out of all of her clothes), and now, to top it off, she was moving away from friends. From to time all of us have reason to believe that life has stacked the deck against us. At this point in her life, Angie Pikshus had ample reason to feel cheated, but she decided to do something about her situation. She decided she needed to lose weight, so she began running strictly for exercise, to burn off that excess weight. The more she ran, the more she enjoyed and applied herself to the task. She co...

Cultivating the FRUIT of the Spirit! What do you Practice?

One of the best ways to practice is to cultivate the fruit of the Spirit - the character qualities the Holy Spirit builds within us - if we allow Him. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. (Gal. 5:22-23) Each character quality is something the Spirit of God wants to produce within us. This tells me that one of the best ways to cooperate with His working is to practice being loving, being joyful, keeping a heart of peace, and so forth. He is faithful to bear these fruits in our lives as we are faithful to practice them. Take a moment to rate yourself on each of these characteristics. Which ones do you need to practice? (Hint: The areas you most need to practice are those that are least practiced now.) Read each definition that follows. Then evaluate where you stand and determine which areas you need to prioritize for practice.                   ...

Valentine Dinner with Harshfriends @ FAT Monk, Lifestyle District, Corrales Avenue, Cagayan de Oro City

Image
We are either single or alone (because of long distance relationship) today, on a valentines day! And I thank God because I have harshfriends who never failed to amuse and readily throw laughter the moment the battle starts rolling.  Indeed, harshfriends are the people who tell you things you don't even want to tell yourself. They've organized this dinner because they don't want to be left out when people are busy posting their valentine celebration, I also happened to be away from my GB Haide, so I said I'd join. Thanks to our ever active friend Roscel and Keithly for this event! Haha we're not alone!  So, we arrived on time (me and Keithly), waited for couple of minutes to be given a seat in the restaurant. People flew into the place, as expected. But yeah, we were given seats after a few minutes of waiting. They serve asian food. We were already hungry so we ordered as soon as the others arrived. But before all the food were served, the laughter had alr...

Valentines Day, the PHINMA-COC Way! Araw ng mga Puso! In COC, we Parteeeey!!!

Image
Today is Friday the 13th! Yes! Some are busy for the valentines day, but most of us employees are busy encoding grades for the second period! Haha Valentines the COC way!  Today, we were also set to meet with fellow employees as members of the Cagayan de Oro College Faculty and Employees' Association (COCFEA). By lunch time, we went to the PHINMA-COC Main South and enjoyed window shopping at the organized Employees' Bazaar! Then we then entered the auditorium. Employees were already gathered.  A few minutes after our arrival, the program started.  A clip of the recent FUN RUN was shown. The general assembly's host was Ms. Caldoza. We were then offered to take our meal as the buffet has been readied by the catering services of Truffles. Then we were welcomed into the general assembly by Mr. Caliat. We were also given words of affirmation and inspiration as well as a challenge by our very own Chief Operations Officer, Mr. Karim Bangcola....
