What Are The Things That You Think Are Impossible? Who Told You So? IsIt Really Impossible?

Image
I've wrote something about capabilities last time, I wrote a story here . I said on that post you should use those capacities you have. Now let's move on to the very next topic. Impossibility! I am continuously amazed at the abilities of athletes who run faster, jump higher, and execute feats of physical skill with greater precision every year. Every day we read about a young athlete who cracks a barrier. The most common athletic barrier was the four-minute mile. Experts believed for many years that it was impossible for a human being to run a mile under four minutes. but in 1954, a man named Roger Bannister ran the mile in less than four minutes. Today, high school athletes and a thirty-seven-year-old man have accomplished that remarkable feat. There was a time when experts believed a twenty-eight-foot long jump was physically impossible, but Bob Beamon pulled off one of the most incredible athletic achievements of our time when he went right on past the twenty-e...

Status Quo

Image
Status Quo (Latin for "THE MESS WE'RE IN") Change. I hope this word doesn't scare you, but rather inspires you. Herbert Spencer said, "A living thing is distinguished from a dead thing by the multiplicity of the changes at any moment taking place in it." Change is an evidence of life. It is impossible to grow without change. Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything. The truth is, life is always at some turning point.  What people want is progress, if they can have it without change. Impossible! You must change and recognize that change is your greatest ally. The person who never changes his opinion never corrects his mistakes. The fact is the road to success is always under construction. Yesterday's formula for success is often tomorrow's recipe for failure. Consider what Thomas Watson, the founder of the IBM Corporation, said, "There is a world market for about five computers." Where would IBM be today i...

Mission Impossible?

Image
The story is told of a Scotsman who was an extremely hard worker. He not only held himself to a high standard but set the same for those who were under him. During one project where he was setting seemingly impossible deadlines for his men, a coworker needled him, saying, "Hey, Scotty! Don't you know that Rome wasn't built in a day?" "Yes, I read about that," the Scotsman replied. "That's because I wasn't the foreman on that job!" Do you accept the normal limitations that stop everyone else? Are you willing to accept other accept? Don't do it! That's the beginning mediocrity. Remember the bumblebee. According to the known laws of aerodynamics, it should be scientifically impossible for the bumblebee to fly. The size, weight and shape of the bee's body in relation to its wingspan make it theoretically unable to get off the ground. But no one told the bumblebee, so it flies anyway, whatever the scientists might say!...

No One Told Him It Couldn't Be Done

Image
This is my version of the story: Everybody in the school knew that whoever achieved the best grade on the upcoming final exam would be offered the ultimate dream "cut-off" accounting grade to stay in the program automatically. Student Ambisyoso Kha-ayo wanted the grade so badly that he couldn't sleep at night. His desperate situation is close to impossible of getting the cut-off, meaning he's got to get a perfect score and still won't reach the "cut-off" and this was his golden opportunity! Nothing must stand in his way. He was determined to correctly answer every question on the test. On the day of the final, Ambisyoso was still studying so intently that when he glanced at his watch, he realized he was 15 minutes late for the test! He quickly collected his books; then he ran to class and into the room. Ambisyoso tried to apologize for the tardiness, but the professor whispered, "Shhh," gave Ambisyoso the test papers and motioned for ...

The "Impossible" Ford V-8 Motor

Image
When Henry Ford decided to produce his famous V-8 motor, he chose to build an engine with the entire eight cylinders cast in one block, and instructed his engineers to produce a design for the engine. The design was placed on a paper, but the engineers agreed, to a man, that it was simply impossible to cast an eight-cylinder engine-block in one piece. Ford said, "Produce it anyway." "But," they replied, "it's impossible!" "Go ahead," For commanded, "and stay on the job until you succeed, no matter how much time is required." The engineers went ahead. There was nothing else for them to do, if they were to remain on the Ford staff. Six months went by, nothing happened. Another six months passed, and still nothing happened. Another six months passed, and still nothing happened. The engineers tried every conceivable plan to carry out the orders, but the thing seemed out of the question; "impossible!" At t...
