No One Told Him It Couldn't Be Done

This is my version of the story:

Everybody in the school knew that whoever achieved the best grade on the upcoming final exam would be offered the ultimate dream "cut-off" accounting grade to stay in the program automatically.

Student Ambisyoso Kha-ayo wanted the grade so badly that he couldn't sleep at night. His desperate situation is close to impossible of getting the cut-off, meaning he's got to get a perfect score and still won't reach the "cut-off" and this was his golden opportunity! Nothing must stand in his way. He was determined to correctly answer every question on the test. On the day of the final, Ambisyoso was still studying so intently that when he glanced at his watch, he realized he was 15 minutes late for the test! He quickly collected his books; then he ran to class and into the room. Ambisyoso tried to apologize for the tardiness, but the professor whispered, "Shhh," gave Ambisyoso the test papers and motioned for him to get started.

The test was more difficult than Ambisyoso had expected, but he was driven and completed all the questions. Just as he was about to turn his test in, however, Ambisyoso noticed two more problems written on the chalkboard. Figuring these were for extra credit, he turned his paper over and began working on them. 

An excruciating battle of mind over accounting began, but his efforts would not be in vain. The invisible guardian over  the science of accounting seemed to recognize his efforts and allowed him to answer the first query.

He tackled the second problem with the zeal of a trained athlete but soon knew he had met his match. Beads of sweat began to form on his brow. Ambisyoso was certain that if he didn't solve this final problem, someone else would! And he would be denied the one and only opportunity he ever wanted.

Just then, the professor called, "Time's up!" Dejected, Ambisyoso slumped in his seat like a defeated game-show contestant.

That night he couldn't sleep. HE tossed and turned, fearing the worst. The next morning, Ambisyoso almost had to force himself to return to the class, where he would likely hear someone else's name announced as the one who got the "automatic cut-off benefit."

As he slowly entered the room, the professor stood up behind his desk and said, "Mr. Ambisyoso Kha-ayo! You have made an accounting history!"

"I don't understand, sir."

The professor replied, "You were late yesterday, weren't you Ambisyoso?"

"Yes, sir. I'm sorry. I was studying."

"No, no! Let me explain," he continued. "You see, Ambisyoso, this was going to be a hard test. So I wanted the students before the final began that accounting presents us with some very, very difficult problems and that this test would be no exception. In fact, there are some problems so difficult, we call them "unsolvable problems." As an example, I wrote two of them on the board - and you solved one of them!"

Let me ask you this: If Ambisyoso had been told he couldn't solve the problem, that it was impossible, do you think he would have tried? Absolutely not!

Believe you can change, and you will.
