Secrets of the Successful: I.M.A.G.E. - "E" is for what? Tips of the GREAT Men.

Image
This is the last part of the secret of the successful series of blog posts. What does the " E " in IMAGE mean. Discover the completion of success tips! Sadly, a topic a lot of businesspeople seem to have forgotten in these fast-paced and topsy-turvy business times. Too many cut corners. They go for the cash grab. They think only about themselves. Whatever happened to good manners, excellent ethics, and remembering that doing good business is actually very good for business?  You will never go wrong in doing what is right, my friend. Nothing's more important than being honest, highly dependable, staying on time, and treating people the way we want to be treated. "How well you make your sheets determines how well you'll sleep in your bed." I took that to mean that the way we do anything is the way we'll do everything. And even one breach against our ethics will pollute everything we touch. Nothing is more precious in work than stayi...

Secrets of the Successful: I.M.A.G.E. - "G" is for what? Tips of the GREAT Men.

Image
This is a continuation of what I shared about the Tips of the Great Men of being Successful. The secret is contained in the acronym IMAGE. What is the "G" in image? The "G" simply stands for the need to have the GUTS in business.  You need no title to be a leader, but you do need to have huge toughness and big guts. To lead, you will have to be unrealistically persistent and wildly courageous. You'll need to dare more than the reasonable person and risk more than the ordinary man. That's not as hard as it might sound. Every one of us has at our core well of courage just begging to be tapped. We all want to be superheroes in some form or another and have the capacity of character to keep going when everyone around us is ready to give up. You see, success truly is a numbers game. And those that become the best and brightest leaders in their work are those that develop the mind-set of failure not being an option. Too many people throw in the towel...

Secrets of the Successful: I.M.A.G.E. - "A" is for what? Tips of the GREAT Men.

Image
I have shared to you previously the secrets of the successful, is IMAGE. An acronym that means I is for Innovation (if you haven't read it yet, read here ), M is for Mastery  (you can find it  here ) , the next letter is "A" . What is it for? "A" is for Authenticity. The old model of leadership, as I've mentioned before was very much about power you get from the authority of your position and the influence you'd have from a title, as you've now learned so well. But in this radically new period of business, your ability to have an impact and make a contribution comes more from who you are as a person than from the authority you receive by your placement on some org chart. It's never been so important to be trustworthy. It's never been so important to be someone others respect. It's never been so important to keep the promises you make to your teammates and customers. And it's never been so essential to be authentic. I should also...

Secrets of the Successful: I.M.A.G.E. - "M" is for what?

Image
I have recently shared to you that the secret of the successful is I.M.A.G.E. And by now, if you have been following my blog, you know what "I" means, Innovation . If you haven't read it, click here . Now, I am going to reveal to you what the next letter means, "M" is for Mastery. Committing yourself to mastery at what you do, mastery at your craft - whether your craft is selling staplers or educating children - is the only standard to operate under in these change-rich times. Anything less and you'll be left behind. The comedian Steve Martin said it really well when he advised, 'Be so good that people cannot ignore you.' Look, if people you work with and the people you serve only like you, you'll probably not last that long in this age of intense competition. You want people to love you. To adore you. To worship the very ground you stand on because you are so staggeringly good at what you do. And the only standard that will get you...

Image
Have you ever said the phrase which begins with, "If I had superpowers I would ____________."? One has to be aware of his power before he/she can use it. In any of the movies you've watched with heroes possessing superpowers, they all have the knowledge of their power before they were able use them.  This post is not aimed at making you having to possess superpowers, instead this is geared towards informing you that you too, can be a superhero, in the course, place, event, or circumstance that you are in right now, as long as you know, and bear in mind these four natural powers. NATURAL POWER #1: Everyone of us alive in this moment has the power to go to work each day and express the Absolute Best within us. And you need no title to do that. NATURAL POWER #2: Every one of us alive today has the power to inspire, influence, and elevate each person we meet by the gift of a great example. And you need no title to do that. NATURAL POWER #3: Eve...

She's Just Being Honest, And She Thought It Would Give Her The Worst,What Happened Next Surprised Her

Image
Leaders are sorely needed, but here's a pretty good case for followers. A young woman wanted to go to college in a story told by S.I. McMillen in his book, None of These Diseases. But her heart sank when she read the question on the application blank which asked, "Are you a leader?" Being both honest and conscientious, she wrote "no" and returned the application expecting the worst. To her surprise, she received this letter fro the college: "Dear Applicant: A study of the application forms reveals that this year our college will have 1,452 new leaders. We are accepting you because we feel it is imperative that they at least have one follower!" "It's  a pity," Dr. McMillen says,"that we race each other like participants in a stock car race. In our excitement to be first, we ignore the damage we inflict on others and ourselves." A man once prayed, "Lord, keep me from becoming so self-possessed that I must ex...

10 Major Causes of Failure in Leadership

According to Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich" book, if there are important factors of a leader ship, there are also major causes of failure of a leader, and he enumerated the causes below: See if you fit into it, or someone you know. . . Inability to organize details. Efficient leadership calls for ability to organize and to master details. No genuine leader is ever "too busy" to do anything which may be required of him in his capacity as leader. When a man, whether he is a leader or follower, admits that he is "too busy" to change his plans, or to give attention to any emergency, he admits his inefficiency. The successful leader must be the master of all details connected with his position. That means, of course, that he must acquire the habit of relegating details to capable lieutenants. Unwillingness to render humble service. Truly great leaders are willing, when occasion demands, to perform any sort of labor which they would ask an...

11 Major Attributes of Leadership

Image
Today, I will be sharing to you the Major Attributes of Leadership according to Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich" the following are important factors of leadership. Unwavering courage based upon knowledge of self, and of one's occupation. No follower wishes to be dominated by a leader who lacks self-confidence and courage. No intelligent leader who lacks self-confidence and courage. No intelligent follower will be dominated by such a leader very long. Self-control. The man who cannot control himself can never control others. Self-control sets a mighty example for one's followers, which the more intelligent will emulate. A keen sense of justice . Without a sense of fairness and justice, no leader can command and retain the respect of his followers. Definiteness of decision. The man who wavers in his decisions, show that he is not sure of himself, cannot lead others successfully. Definiteness of plans . The successful leader must plan his work, and...
