How to Treat People

Image
In the words of Goethe: Treat people as if they were what they ought to be, and you will help them to become what they are capable of being.

Truth

Image
"Never is the truth more at risk than during tough times, with layoffs in the headlines and uppermost on employees' minds. At such times leaders need to redouble their efforts to tell employees the truth, balancing candor with compassion and hope with honesty." -Barry Salzberg, CEO Deloitte LLP

13 People[Organizations] Who Chose to Circulate Trust

Image
In this world who experienced a lot of distrust, with people who in one way or another been a victim of betrayal, of fraud, of scam, of misbehavior, trust has become scarce, and it seems that it has become a "hard currency", it's rare to find. Even some of the people you call "friends" don't trust you that much, even your family members, your mom, your dad, your daughter, your son, your siblings. It seems that trust has joined "honesty" on being labeled by the song "such a lonely word". Trust, has been the currency that every people wants to keep and don't want to spend. And the world has suffered the problems caused by the non-ciculation of "trust" currency.  For some people, they'd give you some trust but would ask you to pay for more. For some people they just choose to keep trust to themselves, and live their long-boring-lives with distrust. For some people, they trust blindly, thinking they have already been t...

SMILE it adds to your FACE VALUE

Smiling, proof that you are happy and enthusiastic, is always a choice, not a result. It is a decision that must be consciously made. Enthusiasm and joy and happines will improve your personality and people's opinion of you. It will help you keep a proper perspective on life. Helen Keller said, "Keep your fact to the sunshine, and you cannot see the shadow." The bigger the challenge you are facing, the more enthusiasm you need. Philippians 2:5 (NIV) says, "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus." I believe that Jesus was a man who had a smile on His face and a spring in His step.  Our attitude always tells others what we expect in return. A smile is a powerful weapon. It can break the ice in tough situations. You will find that being enthusiastic is like having a head cold; both are very contagious. A laugh a day will keep negative people away. As enthusiasm increases, stress and fear decrease. The Bible says that the joy of the L...

Tips on How to Enjoy Life?

Image
Wayne Cordeiro has made a very good list of how to enjoy the ride we call "life". In his book "Attitudes that Attract Success", he has illustrated a very simple yet mind-opening example of missing the ride. Let me share it here. One of the ways the Lord has trained my heart to cultivate gratefulness is by teaching me to enjoy the ride called life. There are going to be challenges and hills to climb on this journey. That's a given. Once you know that hills and trials will always be there, you will be able to expect them and no longer be surprised by them, which will free you up and enable you to enjoy the ride.  God created things for us to enjoy. Stop and enjoy them. Enjoy life. Enjoy the sunshine. Enjoy the rain. When you go home, enjoy your meal. When your wife says, "Please mow the lawn, Dear," enjoy the mowing of the lawn! Take the dog for a walk. Enjoy the walk and enjoy your time with your dog. This life is too short for us to not enjoy i...

A Goal is a Dream with a DEADLINE

Image
In Habakkuk 2:2 the Lord tells the prophet, "Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, the he may run that readeth it." This scripture reveals the key to successful goal setting. The vision must be written. When you keep a vision in your mind, it is not really a goal; it is nothing more than a dream. There is power in putting that dream on paper. When you commit something to writing, commitment to achievement naturally follows. God wrote His vision for us in the form of the Bible. He does not rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us; He put His directions in writing. We are told to make the Word of the Lord plain upon "tables" (tablets) so that the vision is clear and "so that he may run that readeth it." The key word is "run". God desires that we run with the vision in our lives. As long as we are running with the vision, we will not turn around. When you walk with a vision, it's easy to change directions and go the wrong w...

Are You at the End of Your Rope?

Image
Don't quit. There is a big difference between quitting and changing, however. I believe that when God sees someone who does not quit, He looks down and says, "There is someone I can use." In Galatians 6:9 (NIV) we are told, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Look at this verse carefully. It urges us not to become weary, assuring us that we will - not might, will - reap a harvest of if we do not give up. God does not quit. It is impossible for him to do so. In Philippians 1:6 (NIV) the Apostle Paul writes about "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." There are several important points in this verse. The most crucial is the fact that God does not quit. Therefore, we can have great confidence that He will complete the good work He has begun in us. He will see us through every step until w...

Definition of the Successful

Image
Every person has a hero. Who is(are) your hero(es)? Your hero(es) would help you refine your definition of things. In my previous blog I have shared to you how changing your definition changes your mood and your emotions. Your mood/emotion mixed in action will become your attitude.  Let's take a look at one of the heroes in the Bible, which most people (Christians especially) know, David. The man after God's own heart (see 1 Sam 13:14). He faced perplexing situations yet he seemed to have risen over every trying circumstance. Even when he is facing enemies that are way beyond his built, structure and/or even age, something made him carry on with life still. How was he able to do this? David was a man who defined things, not as he saw them, but as God saw them. When David was still a young shepherd and Israel was at war with the Philistines, he faced his most famous challenge. Instead of the two armies waging full-scale battle, each side agreed to choose its fines...

Change Your Definition

Image
I want to encourage you today, with the words Wayne Cordeiro in his book "Attitudes that Attract Success" One way to cultivate staying power is to change your definition of an event or circumstance. After all, the way in which you define your circumstances will determine, to a large degree, how you will respond to that event. Consider it all joy, and watch your faith grow. I lived in Eugene, Oregon, for many years. Eugene is known for, among other things, frequent gray skies and rain. Being from Hawaii, the absence of the sun's warm rays on my body took a toll on me, especially during the winter. Believe it or not, I actually resorted to buying a sunlamp one year when I felt I was about to die from a lack of solar exposure! I remember walking to a coffee shop with a friend one November morning when it began to rain. Not looking forward to another rainy day, I complained, "Rain again! I wish it would quit.!" My friend's response surprise...

VERSUS

Image
We make decisions every day. We are confronted daily with options. We must choose one or the other. We cannot have both. These options may include many of the following: Being better versus bitter Decisiveness versus indifference Enthusiasm versus being lukewarm "How we can" versus "if we can" statements Saying "Get up" versus saying "give up" Security versus risk Overcoming evil versus coping with evil Standing out versus blending in How much we get done versus how much we attempt to do Opposing darkness versus coexisting with darkness Development versus destruction Obtaining versus complaining Committing versus trying Peace versus strife Choice versus chance Determination versus discouragement Growing versus dying Demanding more of ourselves versus excusing ourselves Doing for others versus doing for ourselves Progress versus drifting Priorities versus aimlessness Accountability versus irresponsibility Action versus...

31 Major Causes of Failure

According to Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich" there are thirty-one major reasons or failure. As you go over the list, check yourself by it, point by point, for the purpose of discovering how many of these causes-of-failure stand between you and success. Unfavorable hereditary background. There is but little, if anything, which can be done for people who are born with a deficiency in brain power. This philosophy offers but one method of bridging this weakness - through the aid of the Master Mind. Observe with profit, however, that this is the only one of the thirty-one causes of failure which may not be easily corrected by any individual. Lack of a well-defined purpose in life. There is no hope of success for the person who does not have a central purpose, or a definite goal at which to aim. Ninety-eight out of every hundred of those whom I have analyzed had no such aim. Perhaps this was the major cause of their failure.  Lack of ambition to aim above medio...

What Are You Looking For?

Train your eyes to see evidence of God's presence, not evidenceof His absence. If you are looking for God's absence, you will conclude that this world is a God-forsaken place! On the other hand, if you are looking for evidence of His presence, you will soon see that He is with us even in the darkest of moments. Sometimes we have a mistaken notion of spirituality. When stricken by this disease, once-stalwart Christians become pharisaical at best. This malady can infect any believer, but it more often strikes older Christians who have been in church for five or more years. The veterans seem to be the most prone and susceptible. One telletale symptom heralding the presence of the disease is that we begin to think our own spiritual maturity is measured by how many faults we can detect in others. If I spot more faults than anyone else, then obviously I'm more spiritually mature.  But watch out! Because if you are looking for cursing, curses will find you! He also l...

How To Avoid Arguing With Your Wife (Women)?

Image
I am going to share to you here an excerpt of the book "Men's Relational Toolbox" by Gary, Greg and Micheal Smalley. I hope you get something from this, and improve somehow your relationship with your wife. :-) Men and women approach problems with similar goals but different considerations. While men and women can solve problems equally well, their approach and their process are often quite different. For most women, sharing and discussing a problem presents an opportunity to explore, deepen, or strengthen relationships. Women are usually more concerned about how problems are solved than if they are solved. The process of solving a problem can strengthen or weaken a relationship. Most men are les concerned about relationships when solving a problem. For most men, solving a problem presents an opportunity to demonstrate their competence, their strength of resolve, and their commitment to a relationship. How the problem is solved is not nearly as important as solvi...

Are You A Nagger? (On Talk is Cheap!)

Image
What we say is important. The Bible states that out of the abundance of the heart the mount speaks. (Matthew 12:34). We need to change our vocabulary; we need to speak words of life and light. Our talk should always line up with the Word of God. Christians should be known as those who speak positively - those who speak the Word of God into situations, those who speak forth words of life. When we speak wrongly, it diminishes our ability to see and hear the will of God. We should not be like the man who joined a monastery in which the monks were allowed to speak only two words every seven years. After the first seven years had passed, the new initiate met with the abbot, who asked him, "Well, what are your two words?" "Food's bad," replied the man, who then went back to his silence.  Seven years later the clergyman askd, "What are your two words now?" "Bed's hard," the man responded. Seven years later - twenty-one ...

Train Your Eyes to See What is Good

Image
All our lives, we have trained our eyes to see what is bad. From an early age, we have been training ourselves incorrectly. We get up and read the morning newspaper over breakfast, getting our minimum daily requirement of bad news. On the way to work, we stop by a newsstand and buy the latest issue of U.S. Bad News and World Report, so we can find out what's wrong with the world. After work we rush home and watch the "CBS Evening Bad News," then stay up lat to watch the day's worst events all over again on the local 10 o'clock bad news. We then lay down for a restless night's sleep with bad dreams, only to get up with a bad attitude so we can have another bad day at work - just as we have done every day for years! We have to retrain our eyes. The reason is this: Whatever we're looking for is what we will see. That's how God made us. If we are looking for something good, we will see what is good. If we're always looking for what's wrong wi...

10 Major Causes of Failure in Leadership

According to Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich" book, if there are important factors of a leader ship, there are also major causes of failure of a leader, and he enumerated the causes below: See if you fit into it, or someone you know. . . Inability to organize details. Efficient leadership calls for ability to organize and to master details. No genuine leader is ever "too busy" to do anything which may be required of him in his capacity as leader. When a man, whether he is a leader or follower, admits that he is "too busy" to change his plans, or to give attention to any emergency, he admits his inefficiency. The successful leader must be the master of all details connected with his position. That means, of course, that he must acquire the habit of relegating details to capable lieutenants. Unwillingness to render humble service. Truly great leaders are willing, when occasion demands, to perform any sort of labor which they would ask an...
