Limitations - How A Man Responded To His Limitations Made Him To Be Oneof the RICHEST and Most Creative Men in History!

Image
He was rated "dull, slow, and impractical" by his teachers and was asked to leave college. Despite this negative start, he was awarded a patent for the rotary steam engine before he turned twenty. His next invention, a device that put derailed trails back on track, was purchased by virtually every railroad in his country. Before this man's creative life was over, he patented over four hundred inventions and amassed an industrial empire that few have equalled.  Even though he was disabled near the end of his life, he continued to invent, using his wheelchair to transport him from one project to another. He died surrounded by the sketches of his latest project - the motorized wheelchair. The man labeled as "impractical and dull" was named George Westinghouse. He refused to accept the negative opinions of those around him and instead chose to become one of the richest and most creative men in history. I hope you choose to believe in yourself and strive fo...

Capitol University Graduate School Alumni Homecoming! Coming Home! Welcoming! Happy Family! And A Celebration of Successes!

Image
The idea of attending the CU Graduate School Alumni Homecoming intrigued me, but wasn't really that exciting because my batchmates aren't available. However, with our ever dear Dean of the Graduate School's invitation, I couldn't say no.  As I entered the hall, I somehow feared I will get out of place but soon as I get my feet on the hall, I could feel the energy. We were welcomed with smiles of the front liners of the event. We signed up, and looked for a seat.  I was moved by the musical performance of the daughters of our Graduate School Dean, my apologies, because I was unable to take pictures. But while the performance was going on, Dr. Cimene recounted how Capitol University has become an instrument of her blessing. That such a place like CU is her land of promise. CU is the place where she reaped the harvest of blessing. She's revealed to us how she's gone from glory to glory with CU at her side. God has indeed placed her, where she is. She'...

Jane the Virgin, nominated in Golden Globe Awards

Image
Manila, Philippines- Gina Rodriguez went to Manila to promote her show “Jane the Virgin” on  November 26-28 where her Filipino fans met and greeted her in Fairmont Hotel, Makati.   Meanwhile, JANE THE VIRGIN is nominated in Golden Globe awards as the following: BEST TELEVISION SERIES - COMEDY OR MUSICAL  and GINA RODRIGUEZ BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES - COMEDY OR MUSICAL. About the Show When Jane Villanueva was a young girl, her grandmother, Alba, convinced her of two things: telenovelas are the highest form of entertainment, and women must protect their virginity at all costs. Now age 23, Jane is a driven young woman studying to become a teacher, nursing a dream to be a writer, and supporting herself with a job at a hot new Miami hotel.  All the years of watching telenovelas with the two women who raised her – her sexy, young-at-heart mother, Xiomara (known as “Xo”), and her still-devout grandmother, Alba – hav...

Most Important Decision You Should Make In Your Lifetime

Image
As I grow older, I am increasingly amazed how quickly time passes. It's like the rewinding of a videotape: The closer it gets to home, the faster it goes! So it is with each of us. What if someone came to you and offered to deposit P86,400 into your bank account every morning? Wouldn't that be heavenly? There's only one catch: You must wisely spend or invest the entire amount every day. Any squandering of the money is not acceptable. Nothing can be carried over, and anything left in the account will be lost to you at midnight. Of course, another P86,400 will be deposited the following morning.  What would you do in this situation? You bet! You would be sure to spend all the money or invest it wisely! Well, this happens to you every day. Only the gift is not measured in pesos and centavos; it is measured in time. You are given 86,400 seconds every day.  How you use them is up to you. You can squander the time and lose its benefit, or you can invest it wisely an...

How To Be Stubborn The Right Way!

Image
One of the most powerful ingredients for developing staying power, or the ability to get back in the game and stay there, is stubbornness. That's right. You can be stubborn in a right way. (see sample here. ) I guess you could call it endurance, but I like to call it stubbornness. Of course, you can be stubborn in the wrong way, too. That could be termed being stiff-necked or obstinate. But that's not what I am talking about. Stubborn obedience to the call of God on my life helps me get through the gauntlet of critics and survive the nagging memories of past mistakes. I know God has called me to represent Him during my stay in this world. (He has called you to do the same!) Come what may, I must finish the course. I must run the race with endurance - stubborn endurance, mind you - until He takes me home to be with Him forever. I guess we're pretty good company, because it was prophesied of Jesus that He would stay the course, too, no matter what came His way. ...

She's Just Being Honest, And She Thought It Would Give Her The Worst,What Happened Next Surprised Her

Image
Leaders are sorely needed, but here's a pretty good case for followers. A young woman wanted to go to college in a story told by S.I. McMillen in his book, None of These Diseases. But her heart sank when she read the question on the application blank which asked, "Are you a leader?" Being both honest and conscientious, she wrote "no" and returned the application expecting the worst. To her surprise, she received this letter fro the college: "Dear Applicant: A study of the application forms reveals that this year our college will have 1,452 new leaders. We are accepting you because we feel it is imperative that they at least have one follower!" "It's  a pity," Dr. McMillen says,"that we race each other like participants in a stock car race. In our excitement to be first, we ignore the damage we inflict on others and ourselves." A man once prayed, "Lord, keep me from becoming so self-possessed that I must ex...

The Story Of A Woman Who Didn't Give Up, See How She Used Her TalentAnd Change Her Life and The Children Around Her

Image
Tilda Kemplen grew up and still lives in the rugged mountains of East Tennessee. She went to a one-room school through the eighth grade, and then repeated the eighth grade because there was no high school to attend. Later, as a cook for a Methodist Mission school, she became determined to go back to school. She enrolled in high school at age 32 - with a husband, three small children, a job as a cook, and a home to keep - and graduated five years later. Then she earned a college degree in early education. Tilda wanted to help the mountain children avoid the problems she experienced. She wanted to establish a program for them, but there were no funds and no buildings. So Tilda volunteered her time and held her class in the fields. Later, she raised funds for a child development center, which has employed over six hundred persons in a county with a twenty-six percent unemployment rate. Tilda, who in Washington received the Jefferson Award for outstanding public service, says, "...

This Girl Used The Most Powerful Force On Earth, You Can Use It Too ToTurn Life The Way You Believed It Should Be

Image
Intense belief in a goal is one of the most powerful forces on earth. Joan of Arc a twelve-year old shepherd girl when she developed the belief that she would lead the army of France against England. The intensity of her belief was overwhelming.  At age seventeen she appeared before and explained her belief to Prince Charles, who was so impressed he gave her a suit of armor and an army to lead. Joan of Arc then led a successful siege against the supposedly unconquerable bastion of Orleans. To repeat myself, intense belief in a cause or goal is one of the most powerful forces on earth. No matter what the odds may be, or how insurmountable the barriers appear, belief dictates that there is a way. The armor for your belief and goals may take the form of a stethoscope, a typewriter, or a microphone. Your sword may be patience , unselfishness , or a never-say-die attitude .  I believe success is achieved by ordinary people with extraordinary determination. Notice that I...

See What Humor Has Done to the Paralyzed Athlete, You'll Be Amazed atWhat Happened to Him

Image
With the right attitude and a touch of humor you can do what Mal Hancock did. Mal took the proverbial lemon of a paralyzing fall and turned that tragedy into real-life lemonade. Mal was in high school, facing a promising career in athletics, when a fall paralyzed him from the waist down. He endured some heartbreaking days trying to make the mental and physical adjustments. There are no guarantees, as Mal Hancock learned, that life will be a bed of roses. On the contrary, you can count on facing some very strange events, but if you learn to face the unexpected with humor and optimism, you too can come out on top. While in the hospital Mal began to draw the scenes around him. Rather than complain about the nurse waking him at 3:00 A.M. for a sleeping pill, he drew a cartoon about it that made the point with a laugh. Soon all the nurses in the hospital were coming by to see what Mal had chosen to draw. It wasn't long before he had sold one of those cartoons to a magazine. Th...

Normal. Ordinary. Boring! How do I succeed? What do I do?

Image
You've heard it said that we should never change a proven success formula. Generally speaking, I agree with that statement. But sometimes there is a time and place for a change of recipe in almost any area of business. For example, potato chips are an American tradition, a very successful sales item. That fact didn't keep Procter and Gamble a few years ago from launching "Pringles," a product that defied tradition and opened up a whole new market.  On occasion the ingredient for success is the surprise element. For example, Coach Tom Landry of the Dallas Cowboys is well-known for having surprise for his opponent in an especially big game. He is well aware that the opponent will be prepared for the standard stuff, so he often catches them off guard with his innovations. What about you? Think it through carefully, then if the situation warrants, change the recipe. Add the special ingredients of optimism, enthusiasm, courtesy, and positive thinking. Your innova...

INFERIORITY...

Image
There are moments in all our lives when we feel below par and have brief moments of doubt. As a matter of fact, the late Dr. Maxwell Maltz has written, "At least ninety-five percent of the people in the world feel inferior." The reason so many people feel inferior about their own lives, looks, skills, and abilities is because we spend too much time comparing ourselves with heroes and heroines from the make-believe world of television. Every teenage girl feels must rate at leaset a "10" or she will not be acceptable to her classmates. Every teenage boy feels that he must be a combination of Tom Selleck and Joe Theismann rolled into one.  Every father feels that he must be a super success in business before he is acceptable as a father. Our problem is that we make the mistake of comparing ourselves with other people. You are and you don't have to measure up to any other person. You are not inferior or superior to any human being. The creator has ...

How Would You Deal Criticism? Does It Always Matter?

Image
Davy Crockett had a simple motto: "Make sure you are right, then go ahead." Every one of us, like every successful person you will ever meet, faces of criticism. No matter what your career involvement, the more successful you become, the more criticism you will receive. Only those who don't attempt anything remain forever above criticism.  Being criticized is not a problem if you develop a positive way of dealing with it. Winston Churchill had framed on the wall of his office the following words of Abe Lincoln: "I do the very best I can, I mean to keep going. If the end brings me out all right, then what is said against me won't matter. If I'm wrong, ten angels swearing I was right won't make a difference." Churchill received much criticsim in his lifetime and Abe Lincoln was roundly criticized in his day, just as mort of our public figures are today. It takes a person of great courage to forge ahead and do what he honestly believes to be right...

Count Your Blessings

Image
This is a very good time to be living, because the "good ole days" may not have been so good after all.  Every generation has experienced it share of problems . Some people today emphasize the negative and forget the positive. One hundred years ago life expectancy was less than forty years; today we are expected to live to be over seventy-four.  Just a few years ago, polio was the fear of every mother when she sent her son or daughter to play during the hot summer months. Last year there were only eighty-six cases of polio reported in the US.  One hundred years ago men wore six-shooters, sanitation was primitive, childbirth was hazardous , and the bathroom was behind the house. Today we have more young people in college than ever before. we have more minority youth in college becoming doctors, lawyers, teachers, accountants, and ministers than ever.  As a matter of fact, we are living in a great era! It's a good time to be living, working, and raisi...

Loooong Holiday! Thankful for the great Kickstart of the Year! Welcoming 2015 with abundant POSITIVE energies!

Image
I had a very long overdue assignment for myself. I have been catching up with a lot of things after the long holiday! Sorry, it should be looooooong holiday! Yes, because I've been to different places with my family around. It's long and it's been fun to have my family almost complete. At least most of my siblings were home. :-) So, I'm going to do my long overdue assignment, i.e., to write something about our loooooong holiday. How I spent it. With whom have I spent it. Take aways after the holidays. (Warning this is unusually looong.) We were a bit early. So we took picture outside the mall, while waiting for it to open. We celebrated the Christmas simply at home. Would have been ordinary day  but we went out. Went to the mall courtesy to our generous Santa Claus Manang Inday!  Asked her to pose inside the mall. Naia's on it too! :-) With the family! Very happy to have pictures taken at the mall. Seems like they want to take pictures a...
